Lymphatic Drainage Massage

licensed massage therapist
“MJ” Michelle Cox, LMT

Omnis Rehab’s Licensed Massage Therapist “MJ” Michelle Cox, LMT is now certified to offer Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM).

Who Needs LDM?

Everyone! Especially if you have limited mobility or range of motion. People who live a sedentary lifestyle tend to have a more stagnant lymph system and may see more swelling or water retention. This, in turn, will cause more sickness and inability to heal.

LDM can promote healing by circulating lymph — a colorless fluid containing blood cells — which bathe the tissues and muscles. This fluid is carried through the lymph nodes, destroying the molecular wastes and pathogens. The now recycled lymph is then filtered back into the bloodstream. The lymphatic system does not have a pump, such as the heart in the circulatory system. Lymph is only circulated through muscle movement or by LDM.

Lymphatic Massage for Cancer Patients

Cancer patients who have undergone surgery to remove lymph nodes will usually have swelling and need lymph drainage to redirect the lymph fluid to other healthy lymph nodes. Those patients and others who have had nodes removed can benefit greatly from Lymphatic Draining Massage. LDM can also be incorporated into oncology massage, which is the modification of existing massage therapy techniques in order to safely work with complications of cancer and cancer treatment.

Even allergy sufferers can feel immediate relief after an LDM session.

LDM can also:

  • Eliminate toxins
  • Support immunity
  • Reduce swelling
  • Promote healing
  • Relieve sinus pressure and pain
  • Support bowel and bladder function
  • Support hormone function
  • Promote healthy skin
  • Promote energy
  • Reduce brain fog
  • Induce deep relaxation

How is LDM Performed?

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is performed in very slow, intentional circles, in a particular pattern. This massage is done with very light pressure and is deeply relaxing.
